Mauritanian popular poetry, and indeed much Arabic poetry in local dialects, has rarely been printed, and even more rarely printed with an accurate representation of pronunciation. Taras press draws on experience in Mauritania and the Hassaniya dialect, alongside other Arabic dialects to represent the richness of popular poetry faithfully with type.
